About Us
Cavendish Cancer Care offers professional therapeutic support to people with a cancer diagnosis and their families and carers. We also support people who are living with cancer or recovered from cancer.
We are a registered charity and rely on the generosity of the public to keep our doors open. This includes donations and fundraising from supporters and former clients, and the hard work of our amazing volunteers.
Your Local Experts in Cancer Support...
Our team of professional therapists have been helping people affected by cancer in South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire for over 30 years. We are based in Sheffield, England, where we offer 1-2-1 appointments and small group sessions. We also work with our local NHS hospitals to offer services to hospital in-patients in Sheffield and Chesterfield.
Cavendish@Home was born out of the need to offer support to our clients during the Covid-19 pandemic. We noticed that our clients enjoyed being able to complete courses at their own pace and gain valuable knowledge from our expert therapists. We see Cavendish@Home as a key part of the service we deliver and continuously develop the site with new content and design.

Our vision is clear. We want to improve the quality of life for people living with cancer by providing emotional and physical support to them and their families where and when they need it most
Frequently asked questions
Are your courses only for people with a cancer diagnosis?
Cavendish Cancer Care's charitable objectives are to support anyone affected by cancer - this can be anyone with a diagnosis of cancer, living with cancer or family/friends/carers of people with cancer. We also offer support for people who have been bereaved by cancer. In addition we also undertake support work for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
Do I have to pay for your courses?
No, all our courses are free of charge! However we are a registered charity and 96% of the work we do is funded by donations from our supporters. If you can afford to then any donation to help us cover our costs would be appreciated.
How can I choose my courses?
Your Cavendish Care Co-ordinator may have recommended some courses for you, although you are welcome to try any course you like the look of. If you are looking for a specific topic - for example help with sleep - then you could try that course first and then consider other courses that may help. All our courses can be seen in the course catalogue. Feel free to try as many as you like. If your Cavendish Care Co-ordinator has recommnded courses for you then you will find these by licking on 'My Profile'.
What benefits will I get from doing the courses?
With over 30 years experience of working alongside the NHS, we have created resources that offer practical tips and techniques to help with common problems related to people affected by cancer. Our courses are not designed to 'cure' an illness in any way and are not designed to replace any advice, programmes or treatment offered by your doctor or other health practitioner.
How do I know the advice I'm getting is safe to follow?
All our therapists are qualified members of their professional organisation and are experienced in working with people affected by cancer. They are expected to adhere to Cavendish Cancer Care's clinical guidelines.
Some of the courses are very long! Do I have to finish them in a certain time?
We understand the impact that a cancer diagnosis can have, so we encourage you to go at a pace that suits you. You have lifetime access to these resources so there's no rush to complete anything. There is no need to complete all the content - we encourage you to create your own 'wellbeing toolkit' by integrating a few practices and tips into your week. Small steps - taken slowly but consistently - make the biggest difference.
I'm having trouble using the site or can't log in. What can I do?
The site is designed to be user friendly. By clicking the 'return home' button on the top right toolbar you can always return to the home page. All our courses can be found on the 'courses' page. If you have forgotten your password you can request a reminder using the 'forgotten password' link when you try to log in. Log in using the email you used when you signed up and a password selected by yourself. You should only need to log in the system once per use, you don't need to log into courses separately. Every site user has a username however you don't need to know or remember it, as log in is done using email address and password.
